State President
  1. My job as a leader is to
    make the man (lekened
    to the cattle) work as
    hard as he can.  My
    mandate does not yet
    allow us understand the
    story of the whole or
    understand the
    complexities we face.
  1. That the sub-units with PSRU
    are interrelated
  2. That citizens when engaged
(so inquiry is as important as
    advocacy)  in focused / face-
    to-face focused discussions
    may be used in co-designing
    in understanding the reasons
    and the consequences of the
    reforms
  3. Helping the Ministries “see
    the process of change” /
    interrelations – use of the
    domino effect through the
    ‘forest and the trees’ rather
than the ‘carrrot / whip effect’
  4. Learning to engage the
    stakeholders on what they
want and learn to uncover the
    story (causality) together for
all of us before we can
    determine the strategies to
    use to tackle these issues.
That way we learn to spot the
    leverages and turn around
    the story together.

  1. Overemphasizing the
    hand that is receiving
    the gift while
    underplaying the hand
    that is 'giving' the gift.
    Both matters.
  2. It feels almost as if the
    'harder' we work to
    remove persons who
    would 'receive the gifts',
    the harder the giver
    works to find the next
    person willing to receive
    the gift.  Often in this
    process, the stakes in
    gift-giving keeps rising.
  3. Not understanding the
    causes that are leading
    one hand choosing to
'give' the gift in a bid to
    outdo or outsmart other
    hands doing the same.
  1. Creating opportunities for the
    givers to appreciate the
realities of "the system" - the
    unintended consequences of
    receiving favours 'over other
    citizens'.
  2. Appreciating what takes the
    government to meet the
    differing needs of the citizen.
  3. Facilitating sessions where
    government and citizens as
    well as citizens and citizens
    engage in dialogue /
    conversations on what it
takes for all in the country to
    grow and more importantly
    recognizing what really
    matters for different
    persons in the country.  Do
    not depend on banking the
    media coverage would reach
    the rest.   Just keep these
    conversations running
    throughout the year across
    the country.  The more in
    particular the citizens have
    these conversations with
each other, the less the need
    becomes for citizens to want
    to entice officials to 'meet'
    personal needs over the
    system.  In addition, the more
    government becomes clear
    on the way foward in
    prioritizing the needs of the
    country.  The reverse is also
    true.
